He says she’s obsessed. She says he’s a liar…
I have the perfect life. The perfect home with the perfect husband, who I still can’t believe chose me. The only dark blemish is her.
Celine started stalking my husband years ago. She’s obsessed – unhinged. And her behaviour is escalating: rocks through the window, warnings scrawled on our driveway.
But then the messages change. They used to tell him to leave me, but now they say my husband isn’t who I think he is. That I’m in danger. That I should run…
When I finally tell Dan, he acts like I’m making it up. Celine isn’t even in the country, so she can’t possibly be behind all these so-called threats. I can’t believe how cold he’s being.
I’m terrified of losing him, but I know I’m not crazy. If Celine isn’t the one stalking my husband, then who is?

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy of this title in return for an honest review.
It opens with a bang and you just know this is going to be delicious!
I read hundreds of thrillers a year, some better than others, but overall I find them to be good reads. I have also read (I think) all of Natali’s published thrillers, and she is up there with the best. Before I even start I know I’m going to love it. She is a master of building up tension, of writing a slow thriller, a menacing thriller, a nervous thriller.
It has nice short chapters; I prefer short chapters anyway, but they really help add to the tension of this story.
Our main characters are Freya and Dan. I hated Dan almost instantly. He’s rude, selfish, controlling, overbearing, and just too nice. Whereas Freya, whilst sometimes a bit of a wet weekend, she was a lovely character, full of heart and love, she’s grieving, she’s stressed, she just wants to help and for everything and everyone to be okay.
You spend the whole book unsure who to trust, who to believe, who is telling the truth and who is lying. You think it’s going to go one way and then it spins and goes a completely different way and you’re back to square one. You almost become a character yourself, as you start to question yourself as if it’s going on in your own life.
Everything about this is perfect: plot, characters, twists and turns, setting, narrative, writing – just everything. I will continue to recommend her books to anyone and everyone, and I’m already counting down the days to the next one.
Natali’s books are so exciting and so fast-paced, and I finished this in a matter of hours, I just couldn’t put it down until I’d finished it.
And the ending – I didn’t see that coming!
I try not to compare books, saying the author’s second book is better than their first, for example, and I won’t do that here. What I will say is that it is just as five-star as her previous ones. She is a go-to thriller writer, one of my favourites, and most recommended, and I aim to read everything she writes.
