Enter the world of Charlie’s four unlikely friends, discover their story and their most important life lessons.
The conversations of the boy, the mole, the fox and the horse have been shared thousands of times online, recreated in school art classes, hung on hospital walls and turned into tattoos. In Charlie’s first book, you will find his most-loved illustrations and some new ones too.
I’d seen this book knocking around over the last couple of years – we even had a copy on our shelves at home, but I never actually thought to read it. I wasn’t sure what it was or how to approach it. But after seeing the Duchess of Cornwall publicise it on her Instagram page, and her interview with Charlie Mackesy, I thought it was about time I read it.
It didn’t take me long, about 15 minutes, but it was such a lovely 15 minutes. Charlie has created a world that I want to be a part of. He’s created a world where I identify with a cake-loving mole more than the only human being in the book – but that’s a different story altogether.
If you’re looking for a book to read, but don’t have the time or patience to invest in a novel, please give this a go. It’ll brighten any day.
And speaking of tattoos – I think I might just have found my next one. Thanks Charlie!
