It’s Noel and Dani’s first Christmas in their new home and they want everything to be perfect – lavish presents, a beautiful tree and outdoor decorations to join in with the festivities in this welcoming community.

But they quickly wonder if this street is as perfect as it appears.

First, there are the unwelcome presents left anonymously on their doorstep.

Then they are sure someone is watching them…

And why are the neighbours all obsessed with a notorious killer who is housed at the nearby women’s prison?

After tragedy strikes at a Christmas party, Noel and Dani try to find out who is targeting them – but, in this case, it might be safer not to know . . .

Thanks to NetGalley and Michael Joseph for the advanced copy of this title in return for an honest review.

I have not read any of Mark’s books before – although I do own a copy of The Wasp Trap – so I had no preconceived ideas going into this.

We have two storylines happening (but I won’t talk about the second storyline as I think it’s best you go in blind there), but I am impressed that Mark’s managed to fit so much into what is a relatively short book.

I think its short page is to its benedict. It is so fast paced and quick and thrilling, and it really helps with the mayhem of it all, of the fear. It is a looking-over-your-shoulder read, looking at what’s hidden in the shadows, living with this permanent state of unease and claustrophobia., not knowing who you can trust. Which for me makes for a better thriller than if it was 24/7 action.

I felt so uncomfortable reading this – in a good way. He’s made it so atmospheric and all encompassing and absorbing. I read it in a couple of hours. It freaked me out but in such a good way.

I really enjoyed this and will definitely be searching out his other books.
