What Did I Read in 2023?

Hi, I’m back, giving the people what they want. At least, I hope they want. Am I just talking into the literary void? Helloooooooo.

Anyway, now that’s done. Let’s get down to business.

When I first did a yearly roundup in 2021, I managed to read 200 books. Last year, I increased this to 259. Again, I went into 2023 feeling hopeful my health might improve and I might get a job and be too busy to read as many books as I normally do. The universe had other ideas. And so here I am, still chronically ill, and still unemployed – or medically unemployed, if that’s a thing. But the positive out of that is I managed to read 289 books in 2023. This was made up of:

📚 150 Advanced Reader Copies, 18 Gifted, and 121 I already owned.
📚 192 Adult Fiction, 56 Children or Young Adult Fiction, 29 Non-Fiction, 9 Cookery Books, and 3 Poetry Books.
📚 116 with page counts of 300 or less, 164 with page counts of 301-500, and 9 with page counts of over 501.
📚 63 were debut novels.
📚 20 online book tours.
📚 191 female authors, 93 male authors, 1 non-binary author, and 4 collections of authors.

📚My most read authors this year were CJ Skuse and Jessica Redland with 4 books each, and Hannah Gold, Kiran Millwood Hargrave, Mel Taylor-Bessent, and Ben Miller with 3 books each.
📚My most read publishers this year were Harper with 17 books, Michael Joseph and Hodder with 12 books, and Simon & Schuster with 11.
📚I also read 18 self-published titles.

I will also put my hands up and admit to buying an embarrassing 421 number of books this year.

So, without further ado, I present to you, my reading list of 2023. As always, please send me your thoughts via the comment section below or on my socials.
